The Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalaya mountains in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name “Spiti” means “The Middle Land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India.

Itinerary

Day 1Chandigarh to Shimla

Arrive and transfer by road to Shimla (110 KM / 4 hrs) the former summer capital of British India, set amidst the snow capped Shivalik Mountains which offers some of the most stunning views of the mighty Himalayas. Arrive & check in hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure. Stay overnight.

Day 2Shimla – Sangla -Rakchham ( 240kms, drive 8 – 9 hrs)

Drive to Sangla through the thick woods of Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda and along side the River Sutlej to arrive in the evening and check in to Hotel Rupin River View . Enjoy the evening in beautiful surroundings in the river valley of Baspa at a height of 9000ft. This is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Himalayas and is often compared to the famous valley of Kashmir. Known for its rich Kinnauri culture and apple orchards, this valley was opened for tourists only in 1993 for its close proximity to the Tibetien border.

Day 3Rakchham - Chitkul (14 kms, 3- 4 hrs one side)

After breakfast, trek to Chitkul. Go through a gradual climb along the Baspa river to reach High altitude pastures of Chitkul at 10,000 – 12000 ft. Surrounded by mountains, the site is a paradise to be in and its peace and tranquility adds to its beauty. Overnight at same hotel.

Day 4Rakchham - 3 hrs Kalpa by surface

Go for a date with local folks in the afternoon, just spend the day fishing in Baspa river which is full of Trout or just go hiking in the forest. Just to name a few ways to spend time in this wonderful location. An occasional sight of rare musk dear is also possible for the lucky ones. Over night Hotel Rolling Rang / Royal Voyages.

Day 5Kalpa – Nako

Experience the wild side of nature, with a thrilling Jeep safari. You are about to embark upon a journey through the cold desert of Himachal Pradesh. Overnight stay.

Day 6Nako (Local sightseeing)

Visit the Nako village, and Nako lake.& Monastery & drive to Tabo . Over night Tabo.

Day 7Tabo - Kaza (via Dhankar Monastery)

Early morning visit Tabo Gompa during puja time called the Ajanta Ellora of Himalaya. Overnight stay.

Day 8Kaza (Local sightseeing)

Visit the Kie Moanstery and Kibber Village, the highest inhabited village in the world. Overnight Stay.

Day 9Kaza – Losar

Overnight stay at Losar / chandertal lake depends upon the period of travel ,over Kunzam pass . Over night Guest house / Camp.

Day 10Losar / Chandertal - Manali

Reach Manali via Rohtang Considered to be some of the most picturesque yet highly dangerous to navigate through, the journey through these passes will surely thrill and excite you to no limits.
